The third week of January, I finished a book that is part of a new activity I started with my friend, Kristen, of Space Paste Press. Kristin and I live far away from one another; I live in Indiana and she lives in Pennsylvania.Â In order to spark new projects and to eliminated the inspiration lacking periods, we came up with a monthly "assignment." Sunday, I participated in a workshop as part of the College Book Arts Association conference in Bloomington. The workshop was given by Amanda Lee, a graduate student at IU. We assembled in the printing studios on campus and got to work right away. We learned about the chemicals involved with the salt printing processes. It is important that these ratios are precise or the results will be affected. We required a solution of salt and a solution of silver to make the prints. As posted earlier, this past weekend was the College Book Arts Association's annual conference.Â The weekend was kicked off Thursday with a reception at Lilly Library amongst a wonderful exhibit of bindings and artist books. There is never enough time to spend with such great books, but for those who have never seen them before, it was a great introduction. Friday began with a large group of panels. Beginning tomorrow is the College Book Arts Association conference held here in Bloomington, Indiana. Among the events are several workshops, panels and lots of socializing, not to mention tours and exhibits. I am really looking forward to seeing friends from out of town.
